This group really have completed a DO IT YOURSELF expedition which they should be immensely proud of. Their expedition report sums up what they have achieved.

It is always a delight to see a DofE expedition completed with all of the initiative and planning being done by the group. This team has done just that and should be highly commended for having done so. Everything from choosing a location, finding a provider, deciding on dates and booking flights has been done by them; and that’s before the expedition even began!

During the expedition they were always up early, and away quickly (normally by 6.30am) to make the most of the cooler part of the day. This meant they could enjoy relaxing at the campsite in the afternoons when it was really hot (it was over 30 degrees most days).

They were well equipped, with all the essentials but not too many extras, and the rucksacks were always well packed. Their choice of expedition food was good.

They picked a challenging, but rewarding route, which took them over the Aiguilette des Possettes and up to Lac Blanc. Their expedition was during the UTMB race and they coped well with passing all the runners on the trail! I particularly liked the game that they chose to play with the UTMB runners that they passed. They had to identify the flag on the runners number and then say hello in the language of the runner’ not easy when they come from all over the world!

Their presentation was a slide show of the expedition, which highlighted some of the excellent viewpoints along the way. It showed the fun they had during the expedition and they gone to the effort of taking some stunning, and amusing, photographs.

Well done to everyone in this group. You should be really proud of what you have achieved.
