It’s been a busy summer for Gold Expeditions in Chamonix, with many participants coming to the Alps to complete their Gold DofE Expedition.
Victoria College came to Chamonix first in 2016 and decided to return again this year. Luckily we were able to arrange the same weather for them this time round, giving them spectacular views of the Mont Blanc Massif throughout their expedition.
Albyn School came back to Chamonix for the 5th year in a row. Each year the participants have been inspired to plan routes that take them through France, Switzerland and Italy.
We once again welcomed a private group from Tonbridge Award Centre. These 4 friends decided on a very challenging route, which again took them into 3 different countries. They planned to do what most walkers would do in 2 days, in 1 day! The instructors explained the difficult nature of this, but they were not to be deterred from the challenge. They rose to the challenge, demonstrated great physical and mental strength and completed their expedition in good style. There also seems to be a reoccurring theme with groups that visit from Tonbridge; one of their walking boots falls to pieces part way through the expedition!
