Congratulations to the 12 participants from Albyn School that completed their Gold DofE Qualifying Expedition with us in Chamonix last week. It was wonderful to see the students fully engaged in the expedition, taking every opportunity to appreciate the surroundings that they were in. Plenty of time was spent chatting to the locals, and other walkers on the trail, giving an excellent opportunity to practice their French.
The weather forecast for the final night and day of their expedition was terrible, with weather warnings being issued for flooding. Some of the participants were kept awake by the thunderstorm that passed through during the night, others slept right through it. The groups showed great resilience on the final day, walking well in tough conditions. The rain was horizontal at times, and it was even falling as snow at their high point. The groups just kept smiling and said they felt quite at home in the “Scottish” weather!
