Participants and instructors alike have enjoyed a fantastic weekend of DofE around Rothiemurchus forest in the foothills of the Cairngorms. When the sun is out and the midges are not, the area has a real sense of being alive with outdoor activities, and it’s a fun place just to “be” outside.
All of the groups took time to embrace the environment that they were in, planning routes that took lunch breaks beside local beauty spots including, Lochan Eilean. Loch Morlich and “The Green Lochan”.
The fine weather and long daylight hours meant that the groups were able to enjoy the space of the wild campsites, some playing wide games, others choosing ball games.
As with all DofE Qualifying Expeditions, the groups had chosen aims to explore during the 2 days. Many of the aims this weekend had an environmental theme, meaning that the participants were keeping a close eye on any wildlife that they saw.
Congratulations to all of the participants on completing their expeditions in good style. A huge thank you also to the instructors Max, Dave, Jess and James for all of their hard work over the weekend.
