Throughout August we have had a couple of Silver DofE expeditions running in Scotland. Millburn Academy from Inverness had practice and qualifying groups in the Central Highlands, starting at Dalwhinnie and finishing beside Loch Laggan. As one of the instructors, Di Gilbert, commented this provided “one of the best classrooms ever“! Di, Max and Gillian were very complimentary about how the groups performed, engaging whole heartedly in the outdoor environment and successfully completing challenging routes.
Albyn School had their Silver qualifying expedition in the Cairngorms. Whilst the warm and dry sunny weather for this expedition was particularly appealing, it meant that careful selection as needed for a camping spot to avoid sharing the campsite with millions of over active midges! All of the participants showed perseverance throughout this and coped as best anyone can when the midges are out.
Well done to everyone that has completed an expedition with us during August.
