11301466_10153160749038192_1698342862_n52 participants from Millburn Academy in Inverness all successfully completed their Bronze DofE Expedition this weekend. This is a huge achievement for them, considering prior to the practice expedition, many had not spent the night in a tent before, let alone on a wild campsite. Many had never cooked a hot meal before. This time it had to be done on a camping stove.

On Friday it looked like summer had finally arrived, with temperatures well into their 20’s.  However, come Saturday, and the start of the expedition, the temperature was back down into single figures, and there was a constant light drizzle. Once again this season, the participants woke up to a view of the Cairngorms, with a fresh dusting of snow of hills!

There were a range of different aims between the groups, which resulted in some entertaining presentations and video diaries.

If there’s one thing to remember to take forward to silver I’d suggest Chris’ ABCD of rucksack packing; (A)ccessibility, (B)alanced, (C)ompressed and …. (D)angly Bits – don’t have them!

Congratulations to all those that participated and a big thank you to the supervisors, Dave, Max, Chris, Tamsin and Jess, for keeping a close eye out for them.
