Last weekend we were out and about in Glen Feshie for the practice expedition for Millburn Academy in Inverness.  The forecast for the weekend was not good so we were pleased to have much better weather than expected, with plenty of dry spells throughout the day on Saturday.  But on Saturday evening the rain started … and it sounded like it rained for most of the night.

When we woke up and looked up onto the hillside it had snowed as low as 700m!  This called for some of the groups to reassess their route for the day and make some changes to avoid the snow. Others decided to “stick their necks in it” to see how wild the weather really was, before making the decision to return to the valley and adapt their routes.

By the time we arrived at the finish, it seemed like summer had arrived. Well done to all the participants for coping in such challenging conditions.  For some of them it was their first night camping.  We are hoping for a much warmer night on the qualifying expedition …
