This weekend turned out to be one of the hottest weekends so far this year in Scotland. This has both positive and negatives for DofE. It meant that everyone stayed dry and there were no wet tents to pack away in the morning. The excellent visibility meant that the views in the hills were fantastic and route finding was made easier. However, there were a few red faces at the end of the expedition, and frequent stops in the shade near needed meaning that progress wasn’t as quick as on the practice expedition.
Some highlights from the participants over the weekend were seeing deer and reindeer, sucessfully negotiating the challenging terrain of the Chalamain Gap, walking on snow, standing on the summit of Ord Bàn, and being able to put feet in the streams and lochs along the way.
Well done to everyone that took part and thanks to Jess for the help with supervision. There are a few photos from the weekend here.
