We have been delighted with the Aqua 3 Maps that our groups have been using this season.
The laminated maps robust and easy to fold. They are no more bulky than a paper map but are fully waterproof. You can write on them easily with a permanent marker and then take this off with nail varnish remover.
They can be customised so that you can order the section that you need. How often do you hear yourself thinking “if only I had the bit just to the left”? It makes planning DofE routes much easier. There is no need to have a map flapping about in the wind as you try to fold one up and get the next one out, when you walk on to a new sheet.
We often do routes starting from Dalwhinnie station. This year we have decided to walk through to Corrour Station on Rannoch Moor. Normally this would be spread over 2 maps. But with a quick email to Mike at Aqua 3 we now have it all on one sheet; simple.
Their website is easy to use and you can include your own personal information on the maps too, including a reminder on what to do in the event of an emergency.
