Glen Tilt

DofE group enjoying a sunny campsite with no midges

St Margaret’s and Albyn School’s were lucky to have last week for their Gold DofE Practice expedition.  It was still early enough that the midges weren’t out and about, yet it was also a week in which there was very little rain forecast.  It turned out that there wasn’t a drop!  The group certainly didn’t take it for granted and cherished every moment of the wonderful weather.

The groups picked a variety of routes in and around Glen Tilt in the Cairngorms.  They all started in Blair Atholl and finished in Braemar.  Every group had their own personal highlights.  One of my highlights was being able to sit outside the tents of an evening, enjoying the warmth and the views.  So often we are running to our tents for shelter and to escape the midges.  It was great to have Max and Alex back with us this year to deliver the training and supervise the groups.  Well done to all of the participants, and thanks to Max and Alex for their hard work.
