Expeditions in Scotland: “Scottish Trail Running” by Susie Allison

Although this book was designed with runners in mind it serves as a fantastic resource for DofE participants and leaders looking at venues for expeditions in Scotland.

It is an inspiring read supported with breath taking photos, giving suggestions of areas that you may not previously have thought of.

The maps are excellent giving clear and precise information that is easy to interpret. There are also step by step instructions for each route. One of my favourite bits of the book is the little boxes with extra interesting facts about the area; it makes this book more than just a guide book.

It gives details of local amenities and transport links which are very helpful for expedition planning.
